Sep 30 || Stanislaw Lem European Research Prize

The Wrocław University of Science and Technology (Wroclaw Tech) has announced a new call for applications – edition 2025.

The Lem Prize has been established to commemorate the 100th birthday of the great Polish visionary and science fiction novelist, Stanisław Lem, awarded doctorate honoris causa of Wrocław Tech in 1981. The essential elements of Lem’s literary legacy: people, science, technology, progress, and future – are also the core elements defining the mission and aspirations of Wrocław Tech. Lem Prize is awarded annually to one young researcher whose creative work in science or engineering has potential for positive impact on the future of civilization, increasingly filled with technology.

Sep 30 || DFG: Communicator-Preis – Wissenschaftspreis des Stifterverbands 2026

The award honours scientists who make their scientific work and field of expertise accessible to a broad audience in a particularly innovative, diverse and sustainable way, thereby promoting dialogue between science and society.
Prize money: €50,000

Oct 01 || Daimler and Benz Foundation scholarships for postdoctoral researchers

The Daimler and Benz Foundation's scholarship programme aims to strengthen the autonomy of the next generation of scientists and support the academic careers of young and committed scientists after they have completed their doctorates.
Funding amount: €40,000 in total
Funding period: 2 years

Oct 10 || Carl Zeiss Foundation - Nexus programme for postdoctoral researchers

The purpose of the CZS Nexus programme is to support young scientists on their path to an academic career. To this end, CZS offers postdoctoral researchers the opportunity to establish their own interdisciplinary research group. This call for proposals aims to promote interdisciplinary research groups that are related to one or more of the CZS focus topics of "Artificial Intelligence", "Resource Efficiency" or "Life Science Technologies".

Oct 15 || MWK & WM BW – Transfer booster projects in the field of quantum technology

The CfP for transfer booster projects in the field of quantum technology demonstrators aims to enable small, flexible project teams to produce new feasibility concepts, prototypes and demonstrators, or to test existing prototypes together with users in new, relevant environments. The aim is to demonstrate what is currently possible in quantum technology and to determine the added value for applications, products and markets.

The duration of the projects is limited to a maximum of 12 months and the maximum funding amount is €500,000 per project.

Oct 31 || Daimler and Benz Foundation “Research Forum” funding line

With the “Research Forum” funding line, the Daimler and Benz Foundation provides support to a limited extent for promising scientific projects from all disciplines. The funding is intended to enable scientists to initiate innovative scientific projects of relevance to society or to make existing findings available for practical application. Both basic and application-oriented research projects are eligible for this funding, as well as pilot projects.

Funding amount: max. €150,000
Funding period: max. 3 years

Nov 3 || BMFTR - PhytoProtect

BMFTR - PhytoProtect: New methods for the sustainable protection of crops against insect pests
The BMFTR measure aims to contribute to the development of new methods that protect crops from damage caused by insects and the pathogens they transmit. This requires research into the biotic interaction between plants and insects, as well as research into new biological solutions and methods for plant protection.
Funding for projects is provided within the framework of two funding modules, A and B.
•    Module A: Biotic interactions between plants and insects
•    Module B: New biological solutions for plant protection
Projects in Module A or Module B can be applied for a maximum duration of four years. Individual or joint projects are possible. Applicant consortia are composed of academic (university and non-university research institutions) and commercial partners (commercial enterprises, including small and medium-sized enterprises – SMEs).

Nov 17 || BMFTR - Postdoctoral Starting Grants, priority area ‘Future eHealth’

The aim of this call is to advance knowledge in biomedical research through innovative in silico approaches and to improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases. At the same time, promising talents from the quantitative, computer-based sciences who are about to complete or have recently completed their doctorates are to be recruited for academic careers in the interdisciplinary field of eHealth. This will enable them to further develop their methodological skills and acquire relevant key qualifications such as project management, thereby creating the conditions for them to subsequently apply for further third-party funding and/or a junior research group.

Dec 12 || BMFTR - Funding of junior research groups, priority area ‘Future eHealth’

The aim of this call is to promote junior eHealth networks in which postdocs from different disciplines work together to develop innovative in silico approaches for biomedicine and advance data-driven health research. Only joint projects between universities are eligible for funding. These must be jointly designed and implemented under the leadership of the postdocs heading the subprojects.

Dec 31 || CZS Science Communication

The Carl Zeiss Foundation offers its partners additional funding for science communication. These funds can be used in particular for personnel with expertise in the field of communication that matches the planned measures.

Depending on the project, the funding period complies a minimum of one year and a maximum of six years and can go up to €40,000 per year. The aim is to make the scientific work in the projects funded by the CZS more accessible.
