Workshop with Christian Scharun and Jens Foell:
How to Science Slam
In this workshop, you will learn the basics of science slams and get a chance to present your research in a way that's interesting and easy to understand. You will learn how to present complex content in such a way that even non-experts will be enthusiastic listeners, and how to tailor your presentations perfectly to your audience using inspiring examples of best practice.
Best of all:
On October 21, you will get the chance to develop your own personal science slam style in a protected space and receive valuable feedback from our experienced trainers and your colleagues.
Look forward to two inspiring afternoons - and bring your research to the stage!

The Trainers
Dr. Christian Scharun holds a doctorate in climate research and is a science slammer.
He worked at KIT from 2012 to 2023, investigating the impact of greenhouse gas emissions on global warming, among other things.
In 2021, his work was honored as "Scientific Breakthrough of the Year" at the Berlin Science Week. In 2022, he won FameLab Germany, one of the largest and most prestigious science communication competitions in the world.
Since 2023, Christian has been a part of the ZDFneo program MAITHINK X as a scientific author and also writes for the online knowledge column of Terra X. As a lecturer at the National Institute for Science Communication (NaWik), he also shares his experience as a knowledge mediator in numerous different workshops and lectures.
Dr. Jens Foell holds a doctorate in neuropsychology, is a science editor and SPIEGEL bestselling author.
In his many years of research at ZI Mannheim and Florida State University, he investigated the connection between the brain and experience and wrote, among other things, an award-winning publication on brain activity in phantom pain.
In 2017 he founded the online communication project Real Scientists DE and since 2020 he has been working exclusively in science communication: as a non-fiction author for Droemer Knaur, as a columnist for ZDF heute, as a podcaster, as a freelance lecturer, as a TEDx speaker, and last but not least as an editor and scriptwriter for the ZDFneo program MAITHINK X, which led to a nomination for the Grimme Prize in 2022.
