March 2026: Pathways into Mathematics of SPDEs
We are happy to announce the Junior Researcher Workshop on stochastic partial differential equations in applied mathematics. The workshop is a joint intiative by doctoral students from Karlsruhe's KCDS and Heidelberg's HGS MathComp and aims to provide young researchers with a smooth introduction to this challenging yet highly relevant topic.

March 2026: 3DMM2O Conference "Future 3D Additive Manufacturing"
Explore the latest advances in the theory, computation and design of 3D materials, and connect with leading researchers and innovators in the field of additive manufacturing.

Dec 31 || CZS Science Communication
The Carl Zeiss Foundation offers its partners additional funding for science communication. These funds can be used in particular for personnel with expertise in the field of communication that matches the planned measures.
Depending on the project, the funding period complies a minimum of one year and a maximum of six years and can go up to €40,000 per year. The aim is to make the scientific work in the projects funded by the CZS more accessible.
Application deadline: December 31, 2025.
Jan 31 || Hella Bühler Prize
The Hella Bühler Prize - which comes with a prize money of €100,000 - is granted by Heidelberg University and is one of the most valuable awards in the field of cancer research.
Young researchers from Heidelberg University and its cooperation partners can apply with a clinincal or non-clinical
project in the field of cancer research.

Feb 20 || BMFTR - Research networks on aging and cancer as part of the National Decade Against Cancer
The BMFTR initiative aims to develop innovative approaches to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of age-related cancers, as well as to improve societal responses to cancer in older age. For Priority Areas 1–3, interdisciplinary research consortia are to be formed, bringing together groups from natural sciences and medicine and, where appropriate, additional expertise from fields such as social sciences, IT, engineering, or psychology.

Priority Area 1: Investigating the functional molecular links between cancer development and ageing processes

Priority Area 2: Improving cancer prevention for older people and promoting healthy ageing without cancer

Priority Area 3: Improving oncological therapies for older cancer patients
Projects are generally eligible for funding for up to three years.

Feb 26 || EIC Advanced Innovation Challenge
EIC Advanced Innovation Challenges aim to support high-risk, demand-driven deep tech innovation with transformative potential especially in areas where there is extensive research but lack of commercial uptake.
It is a 2-stage funding model, in Stage 1: €300,000 lump sum for up to nine months to prepare and benchmark breakthrough solutions and explore their feasibility and viability

Feb 28 || Klartext prize for science communication
The Klaus Tschira Foundation is looking for young researchers who have recently completed an excellent doctoral thesis and are interested in explaining their research to a non-scientific audience. Eligible applicants are recent PhD graduates (within the past two years) from biology, chemistry, geosciences, computer science, mathematics, neuroscience, or physics.
Winners will receive €7,500.

Mar 10 || BMFTR - Reducing the gender data gap in clinical research
The aim of the BMFTR measure is to identify the most urgent research questions from the perspective of patients in order to close the gender data gap in gender-sensitive treatment.
Funding is available for science-initiated individual projects in the following modules:
• Module 1: Systematic reviews of clinical studies
• Module 2: Post-hoc analyses of data from clinical or registry studies
• Module 3: Priority Setting Partnerships to prioritize the most urgent research questions in gender-sensitive therapy
• Module 4: Summer schools on gender-sensitive clinical research
