Dark Matter is an indispensable ingredient to our universe; however, its nature remains one of
the greatest puzzles in fundamental science. Potential Dark Matter candidate particles can be
produced and studied under controllable laboratory conditions at high-energy particle colliders
such as the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). So far, the experimental collaborations
operating the large multi-purpose LHC experiments ATLAS and CMS have published the
results of searches for Dark Matter independently. Theory groups have then provided
interpretations in many models at different levels of sophistication.
With this HeiKA project application we propose to lay the groundwork for a novel and
systematic approach of analyzing and interpreting Dark Matter data from the LHC: The
experimental ATLAS and CMS groups publish their results as unfolded data within the same
fiducial phase space. Using these data, theory groups can provide consistent and reliable
interpretations in Dark Matter models. This approach requires close collaboration of the Uni HD
group working at the ATLAS experiment, of the KIT group working at CMS, as well as of the
groups working in theoretical collider physics at both institutions.
